Coping with hair loss can be stressful.

But wigs can provide a sense of normality during an unsettled time. Some ladies even find that trying new hairstyles with wigs can be a welcome distraction. While you may be entitled to a free wig from the N.H.S. you might find that the variety of wig styles offered or even the type of wig construction to be a bit limited.

We’d love to guide you through the process of choosing the best wigs for chemo patients so that you can start to feel a little bit more like you again!

Ultimately, it’s your own personal decision if you wish to wear a wig, or not. If you’re undergoing chemotherapy and have decided to wear a wig, then please feel reassured that wigs are now so fabulously advancedcomfortable and natural looking that we’re confident there will be a style from our portfolio that will suit all your requirements. From lightweight wigs for chemo patients to special, glam styles, our collection is fabulously extensive! You might decide that you’d like to wear headwear rather than a wig. If this is the case, please read our guide to headwear for cancer patients.

I am Confused.

Where do I start?

Okay. . . so you may have had a quick look at some of our products and felt overwhelmed by the choice of style, colours, and constructions that are available. We would suggest reading our Wig Buying Guide and taking a close look at the ‘construction type‘ as many of our clients wearing wigs for medical treatments, such as chemotherapy, like to wear the pieces that are softer to the touch, such as the hand-tied wigs or monofilament wigs.

Popular Constructions in Wigs for Cancer Patients

If you’re going through chemotherapy, you may be suffering from a sensitive scalp and a wefted wig may irritate this. Please take a look at some of the most popular constructions for our clients with sensitive scalps:

100% Hand Tied Wigs are all about comfort and style combined – a match made in heaven! Show off your natural beauty with a Fully Hand Tied Wig and benefit from a realistic style that you can wear day after day. Each individual hair is lovingly hand tied onto a soft mesh cap; dedicated attention to detail which can be felt through its super soft fit. No wefts and no mechanical stitching are used to give the appearance of all-over natural hair growth, even up close. A lot of our total hair loss clients prefer 100% Hand Tied Wigs due to these features and their quality shines through.

Monofilament Wigs are one of the most popular construction types in wigs due to a harmonious blend of long-lasting comfort and quality design. The benefits of a Monofilament Wig create the illusion of natural hair growth and allows for multidirectional styling. It will create a super soft, cool feeling against the scalp, allowing your skin to breathe through daily wear. A Monofilament Wig is made with a durable synthetic fibre which is then constructed into a sheer mesh material. Hand tied in the parting or crown area of the wig, the monofilament wig area allows individual hairs to be hand tied to the construction for a naturally gorgeous style.

The two layer Double Monofilament Wigs will provide extra comfort and will help to prevent scalp irritation for customers that are sensitive to wefted wigs. The specially designed Double Monofilament Wig mesh simulates natural hair growth from the scalp as each hair has been lovingly hand tied. The monofilament mesh is so sheer, it looks like natural hair growth, even close up! A double monofilament layer cushions the layer underneath to which hair is knotted, so it feels even silkier and softer against the skin. Double Monofilament Wigs look and appear very natural and are a great choice for clients that have sensitive scalps.

How to Prep for Your Wig

The beauty of wigs is how simple they are to add to your daily routine. But, there are things you can do in advance to ease the transition. When you start to lose your hair, you may find it less traumatic to cut your hair short to avoid losing it in large clumps. At some point, you might wish to shave it all off entirely. This is completely up to you and what you feel comfortable doing. If you’re unsure, you might wish to read our blog post on deciding to shave hair during female hair loss.

It’s advisable to start wig shopping before you start treatment. That way, you can base your choice on your natural hairstyle and colour – should you wish to keep it the same. But, more importantly, you’ll have more energy to spend time browsing the best wigs for cancer patients to find the perfect wig for you. You can purchase any of our wigs online and we also have a showroom for you to visit so you can try as many wigs on as you like before making a final decision. 1. Hello.
I am a sixty year old woman with thick, dark brown, waist-long hair. There is a little grey but not much. Just didn’t get round to getting it cut during various lockdowns etc. I would like to donate it if anyone is interested in receiving it. Not sure that it would be suitable for a child. Do you have any suggestions?

  2. Hi.
I am about to undergo chemotherapy, so I’m looking for ‘new hair now. I naturally have very thick, shoulder length, wavy auburn hair Nd would like to get something similar if possible. However, I do have a larger than average head! Can you help please?

  3. Thank you, we would LOVE to receive your wigs so that we can pass them onto someone that may require them 🙂 You can find all the details here. Please let us know if you require any further information.

  4. I have alopecia universalis and have made quite a few mistakes when buying wigs. I have some lovely ones, never used and would love to send them to your wig bank. Please could you email me your address

  5. Hi, I don’t have hair loss thankfully, but I have a broken hand and cannot style my hair.
Please could you advise me on the best type of wig and do I need a cap or anything under it.
