The Full Guide to Buying False Brows

The Full Guide to Buying False Brows

Ever since Cara Delevingne’s fiercely large eyebrows landed on the catwalk, we’ve all been itching to copy her style and add that extra volume to our brows. Thanks to the advancements in eyebrow technology, this look is now not just possible, but easily achievable whether you have brows or not, thanks to the range of false brows available.

If you fancy revitalising your look with false brows, the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to finding the right artificial eyebrows online. To help you on your way to gorgeous, on-trend brows, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide on the intricacies of false brows.

Before you take the plunge and invest in some artificial eyebrows online, take a minute to think about the following.

Who Can Wear False Brows?

You are best suited to false brows if you have complete brow loss or very fine brows. Our wonderful customer, Wendy, tested our human hair semi-permanent brows and as you can see from the false eyebrows before and after photo, they look fantastic on her! If you still have some brow hair, it might be better to fill them in rather than use false brows.

Factors To Consider:

Brow Shape: Whether you want to soften your look or make your face appear shorter than it is, there is a brow shape to achieve all goals. Our blog post written by makeup artist, Steph, explains how to get the perfect eyebrow shape in more depth to help you style your false brows or master the art of drawing them on.

If you aren’t sure which brow shape is right for you, Sonia Haria, beauty editor of The Telegraph  advises the following brows for different face shapes:

Heart-shaped face: the rounded brow with a low arch.
The forehead is wider than the chin, and the face tapers to a narrow oval chin. Prominent cheekbones. Rounded brows with low arches maintain a soft appearance and make your eyes pops.

Long face: flat brow shape.
The forehead, cheekbones and jawline are all about the same width. The face gracefully tapers to a narrow oval chin. A flat brow shape adds definition without detracting from the natural contour of the cheeks.

Oval face: the soft-angled brow.
The forehead is wider than the chin, and the face tapers to a narrow oval chin. Also has prominent cheekbones. A soft angled brow complements the striking high cheekbones and balances the dynamics of the face.

Buying false brows with a heart shaped face

Round face: the high-arched brow.
The face is almost as wide as it is long, and the face is widest at the cheeks. A high-arched brow adds height and volume to a round face, giving the illusion of a longer face.

Diamond face: curved brow shape.
Narrow forehead and a narrow chin, that are about the same width. The cheekbones are the widest point of the face, and the chin is often pointy. Gently curved brows add a finishing touch to this face shape, adding to the natural flow of the angles.

Square face: curved brow shape with a defined, sharp peak at the top.
The forehead, cheekbones and jawline are all about the same widths, and the squared jawline is the most obvious feature. Stark, angled brows compete for the attention that the jawline attracts, giving the face balance and femininity.

Brow Colour: As a general rule of thumb, Style Craze advises you to choose an eyebrow colour which is one or two shades darker than your natural hair colour. If, however, you have red toned hair, Cancer Hair Care recommends opting for light brown coloured brows.

Skin Tone: Everyone’s skin tone is different. It’s important to consider your skin tone when choosing a brow colour, as getting it wrong could make your face appear washed out or a different colour entirely.

Buying false eyebrows and applying them

The Different Types of False Brows

1. Beauti-Full Brows: Fancy brows that are more reliable than makeup but don’t want to commit to a tattoo? Beauti-Full Brows transfers are for you! Perfectly suited to those with very fine brows or complete brow loss, these semi-permanent brow transfers leave the user with stunning brows for up to three days.

How to apply:
a) Ensure that your face is clean and dry.
b) Cut around a pair of brows.
c) Peel the back off the brow to reveal the adhesive and apply to the area of your face where you would like the brow to be.
d) Press the brow onto your skin and gently dab with warm water.
e) Hold this brow in place for a couple of minutes.
f) Repeat this process on the other eyebrow.

TIP: Rather than stand, arm aching, waiting for your brow to transfer onto your skin, consider holding them in place with the Waffle Brow Application Band. This helpful band is one size fits all, with adjustable Velcro straps helping you to adjust the band to whatever width you require. To use, thoroughly wet one side of the band and ring out any excess water. Next, position the band over the eyebrow transfer tattoos that you have already positioned in the correct place. Finally, fasten the Velcro at the back and wait approximately three minutes before removing.

2. Dimples Eyebrows: All eyebrows in the Dimples false brows range are made using the finest human hair to give the user the most natural look possible.

How to apply:
1) Ensure that your face is clean and dry.
2) Remove the eyebrows from their packaging and lay them, smooth side facing upwards, on a flat surface.
3) Hold the brow in place using tweezers while you apply a thin layer of Dimples False Eyebrow Glue.
4) Wait for around three to five minutes while the glue turns transparent.
5) Once transparent, apply another thin layer of eyebrow glue to the surface of the brow.
6) Quickly apply a thin layer of glue to the brow area of your face.
7) Wait for another three to five minutes for the glue to turn transparent.
8) Using the tweezers, carefully position the eyebrow onto the desired area of your face.
9) Once you are happy with the position of the brow, press down firmly.
10) To remove any excess glue, simply use a cotton bud dabbed in warm water.
11) Repeat this process on the other eyebrow.

TIP: Avoid using oil-based facial products after application as this may weaken the eyebrow glue.

3. Semi-Permanent Eyebrow Kit: Whether you’re a makeup aficionado or a total novice, the semi-permanent eyebrow kit by Ellen Wille will help you to achieve devilishly good brows. If it’s smudge-proof, water-resistant, beautifully shaped and defined brows you’re after, this kit is for you!

2) Choose one of the stencils included in the kit (thin, natural or thick).
3) Position the stencil over your existing eyebrow.
4) Press the stencil firmly in position using your middle and index finger.
5) Using the stencil as a guide, either lightly dab (for a subtle effect) or brush the powder on (darker, more dramatic brows).
6) Remove the stencil and tidy up any excess powder using a cotton bud.
7) Once happy with the shape and definition of the brow, firmly press the makeup with a cotton pad or piece of tissue paper to set the powder in place
