Supporting our northern charities

LOVE SINGING?

Then join the Abreast The M62 collaborative project. On Saturday 4th October 2025, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Honley Ladies Choir will be travelling the M62 from east to west, working with Breast Cancer charities, to raise awareness of breast cancer, and using music to bring together communities that have experienced the impact of breast cancer in support and encouragement.

What’s it all about?

Abreast The M62 is a vibrant, creative and collaborative event bringing together singers from across Hull, Leeds, Huddersfield and Liverpool – all united for an incredible cause. We’re joining forces to support five brilliant charities, each making a real difference in their communities.

The Spark of an idea

The idea for Abreast The M62 was lit by Honley Ladies Choir in Huddersfield. We’ve felt firsthand the incredible power of music – how it connects, uplifts and brings people together in the most meaningful ways. Singing with a shared purpose has brought encouragement, healing and support to so many, and now we’re channelling that same energy into something even bigger.

This bold and inspiring event uses the universal language of music to unite communities all along the M62 – a landmark that links us both literally and emotionally. Together, we’re proud to stand with five amazing charities: Hull and East Riding Breast Friends, Maggie’s Yorkshire, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust Breast Care Team, Prevent Breast Cancer, and Maggie’s Wirral – each doing vital work in the fight against breast cancer.
