1 . The darker ‘rooted’ colour
Bernstein Rooted
Classed as a Medium Brown, and includes a gorgeous blend of Medium Browns and Light Blondes and a very subtle Strawberry Brown highlight to lift this shade. Giving a natural overall look of mixed Ash Brown with Medium Brown roots.
We would say the Bernstein Rooted has overtones of the popular Raquel Welch colour Shaded Biscuit colour.
Soft and subtle and very natural.

The customer look for Bernstein Rooted…

Debbie is wearing the Atlantic Mono (now discontinued) from the Raquel Welch collection, which is a very popular piece. Take a look at a similar style wig.
You can easily see why! See how the natural curls emphasise the subtle root, making the piece look so, so natural. Find an equally fabulous style in the Watch Me Wow wig.

With curl, you can see how the colour loses some of the more prominent highlights but still delivers a very natural tone.
The Jamila from the Ellen Wille Hairpower collection is such a beautiful style for our customer, Alison. Your look is just perfect.

With longer layers throughout and at the nape, the Bernstein Root colour is a gorgeous blend that softly frames the face.
Krystal wears the Drive from Ellen Wille from the Hairpower collection so well. A great alternative to the Planet-Hi is the Date wig, also by Ellen Wille, featuring lovely layering and a gorgeous fringe. You look fab, Maria x

2. The ‘lighter’ rooted colour.
Light Bernstein Rooted
A very dynamic colour that includes a Light Golden Brown base with varying tones of a subtle Butterscotch Blonde running throughout. This is then highlighted with a Caramel Brown. The colour is then completed with a Medium Brown root, creating the impression that you have a natural regrowth.
The Simply Wigs team would say that the overall feel of the colour is very similar to the Rene of Paris Moccacinno-R.
The customer look for Light Bernstein Rooted…

Cathy wanted a lighter highlight showing throughout the piece to break up the natural Warm Ash Brown base, and has definitely achieved this with the Light Bernstein Rooted colour.

See how the natural light picks up the beautiful shading that is a constant, throughout the Girl Mono piece. The Butterscotch Blonde/Brown is a great addition to this colour.

Work, rest and play in the Code Mono from Ellen Wille collection. As the hair straightens out it creates an amazing tonal value that adds an extra dimension to this colour.
Thank you for your comment ?
How much the root shows on a wig, can vary between different styles and also different brands. The longer styles tend to have a slightly longer root, to provide a more ‘natural’ graduation into the main body of colour. If you were to look for a more subtle/lighter root, then it is likely that the main colour will also be lighter.
The Blonde Brownie shade in the Drew wig is a similar colour to the Venice blonde and has similar tones. However, this has no root at all. Therefore, the overall colour will appear blonder.
We always appreciate our lovely customer’s feedback, and I will certainly pass on your colour queries to the supplier.
Hi Josephine,
Have you tried looking at the many wig reviews, on YouTube? You will be able to find reviewers, of different ages, face shapes and skin tone, wearing different hairstyles, in different colours. They even show styling advice and how the colours look under different types of light. There are so many different shades of grey, in lots of modern, as well as ‘traditional’ styles. Grey is an ‘in’ colour, just now, so, you couldn’t have picked a better time to dhop for grey wigs! There are wigs at all price points. Often, the reasonably priced wigs last longer, than the more expensive ones. Have fun looking for your ideal hair!
My favourite colour is Jon Renau, Venice Blonde.
It looks very natural. sort of ‘British mid-blonde’.
For me, the only way that it could be improved upon, is if it had about half the length, or less, of a lighter brown root. Please.
I think that Simply Wigs customers have brought this up before, nobody would want to let their hair colour grow out to that length (2-3 cms, well, perhaps during lockdown…)
If you are otherwise well-groomed, it does look a bit odd and invites closer inspection.
Dear Simply Wigs geniuses, do you have any suggestions for a similar colour with a more subtle root? My usual style is JR ‘Drew‘.
Keep on looking as we are sure that there will be a style that you will fall in love with 🙂 If you do need any advice then please give us a call on 01484 844557, and our fantastic customer services team will be glad to advise you on any of your choices.
Still unsure about wearing a wig, got one years ago and didn’t think it looked right. I am now mostly white haired with a bit of grey here and there and have hair below ear length lightly layered. Gone very thin on top now but disguise with Mane so far. I keep on looking……
