If you want to elevate your hairstyle, but are unsure how to attach a hairpiece, look no further. We’re going to discuss the different hairpieces available, and how to secure them easily and comfortably.

Crocodile Butterfly Hairpiece

Crocodile / Butterfly Clip

To attach a crocodile clip hairpiece, squeeze the clip to release the spring and separate the two combs. Then, release the clip in the position where you want the hairpiece, to secure it in your hair.

Hairpieces with crocodile clips, also known as butterfly clips, are a common attachment style with ponytails like the Voluminous Pony Hairpiece from Hot Hair and other updos. They have two rows of combs, or teeth that are positioned together using a spring mechanism.

Scrunchies

Scrunchie hairpieces add volume to your hair in seconds, giving you more hair to work with. They are a popular choice as they are so quick to attach and remove, which means you can switch up your look as and when you please.

For a super quick and stylish look, try a scrunchie hairpiece. They are easy to attach – just wrap it around your bun or ponytail.

¾ Wigs and ½ Wigs

¾ wigs, or ½ wigs, are hairpieces that you attach to your hair in two places – just in front of the crown of your head and at the nape of your neck. They are designed to naturally blend in with your natural hair, giving you added volume in minutes. This makes them a popular choice of hairpiece.

Attaching a ¾ wig hairpiece or a ½ wig hairpiece couldn’t be more simple. You’ll find two combs underneath the hairpiece, one at the front and one at the back. Slide the front comb into your hair by the crown of your head, and slide the back comb into your hair by the nape of your neck. Then, brush over your hair and the hairpiece to blend the two together, creating a natural, voluminous style.

NOTE:

Hairpieces do differ from wigs, and ¾ wig hairpieces are perfect for those who don’t want to wear a full wig.

Comb Attachment

A straight, comb attachment is common when it comes to hairpieces; they secure the hairpiece easily and smoothly using one row of teeth.

To secure a comb attachment hairpiece, you need to either tease your hair or fashion an updo – like a bun or ponytail. Then, slide the comb into your hair for extra volume.

Don’t forget that there are some fabulous ways to style you ponytail hairpiece, and if you want additional comfort and grip, you can secure some bobby pins into your hair, too.

Bun Hairpiece

Bun Hairpieces

If you’ve ever struggled to style a bun that is both voluminous and sleek, look no further. Bun hairpieces are the effortless solution to this challenge.

Before securing your bun hairpiece, you first need to create a bun with your hair. For a polished style, smooth down your hair as much as possible. Then, use the vertical comb on the hairpiece and attach it to your hair.

Not only are bun hairpieces easy to attach, but they are also found in a variety in styles. For example, bun hairpieces are offered in a range of colours and often feature unique styles, such as intricate braiding.

Fringes/Bangs

Having a fringe, or bangs is a popular style that not everybody is confident enough to commit to! That’s why a faux-fringe hairpiece is an excellent option.

Fringe hairpieces have clips attached, making it easy to secure the hairpiece by sliding and clipping it into the front of your hair. If you need to, you can trim the fringe, so it’s the right length for you.

A fringe hairpiece can also be used as an addition to all turbans and scarves to enhance your look in an instant

Hair Extensions

Hair Extensions

For long and luscious locks, clip in hair extensions are a fabulous choice. When properly attached, your hair extensions will stay secure all day.

Before you secure your hair extensions, you should style your own hair to match them. For example, if your extensions are sleek and straight, straighten your hair beforehand.

Next, create a horizontal parting from ear to ear, separating your hair into two sections. Tie up the top half of your hair into a bun to keep it out of the way. Then, take your hair extensions and clip them in place along the horizontal parting before gently blending them in with your natural hair.

Clip in hair extensions are growing in popularity, especially with improvements in quality and affordability. They’re an excellent way to achieve a luxurious, voluminous look with minimal time and effort.

If you have fine or thinning hair, hairpieces can work wonders, especially clip in extensions. Just remember to lightly tease along the horizontal parting before securing your extra luscious locks.

Pressure Clips

Pressure clips are small, metal clips that bend in one direction to open, and in the other to close. To attach pressure clip hairpieces, you need to slide the pressure clip’s teeth into your hair and bend it to close. You’ll know it has been fastened securely when you hear or feel a small snap.

Using hairpieces with pressure clips is a popular choice. They are small and lightweight, which makes them a practical and comfortable option. Pressure clips are also super easy to wear, so you’ll feel secure all day.

Interlocking Combs

Interlocking Combs

Another common way to attach a hairpiece is by using interlocking combs. Interlocking combs are comprised of two straight combs that lock together and secure the hairpiece in place.

Typically, interlocking combs feature on hairpieces in a ponytail, bun or other updo styles. To attach them, simply slide them underneath your existing updo and lock them together. They will lay flat against your head, offering you comfort and a natural look.

Headband Hairpieces

Headbands are a trendy yet classic fashion staple, and headband hairpieces are really easy to attach.

Simply position the headband hairpiece where you want it to sit, then slide it into your hair securely using the flexible combs underneath the headband.

Headband hairpieces offer a comfortable and stylish look, adding volume and length even for those with super short hair.

Drawstring Hairpieces

Drawstring Hairpieces

Drawstring hairpieces are typically found in ponytail and bun styles. They are a flexible and comfortable choice of hairpiece which should fit any head size.

To attach a drawstring hairpiece securely, you need first to position it over your hair; use the clips attached on the underside of the hairpiece to do so. Once you’re happy with the positioning, pull on the drawstring gently to tighten the hairpiece. Then, tuck the drawstring underneath the hair to hide it.

For extra security and style, you can use a drawstring hairpiece in conjunction with other methods of attachment, like pressure clips. You can also add some bobby pins.
