Ten years ago I was the owner of a thick head of blonde curly hair which, I loved. At school, very many years ago, I was voted ‘the girl with the most attractive hair’. Suddenly at age 60yrs, that changed when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that caused scarring alopecia.
When I received the results of my biopsy I still believed that it would all be OK and I would not lose my hair. I was wrong. My hair gradually receded until I was almost completely bald. I could not believe what was happening and sourced numerous research papers on managing hair loss and endless web-sites for wigs.
‘I was terrified’
Then I found Simply Wigs. From my first telephone call with Jodie I was greeted with kindness and understanding and with trepidation, I ordered my first wig. I could not believe how nervous I was taking it out of the box and trying it on.
‘The huge test was to come’
I travelled down to London to Chair a meeting for the first time wearing my wig. I kept looking at myself in the train window and imagined everyone was looking at me and knowing I was wearing a wig. I walked into the Committee room to an immediate and obviously genuine response of ‘WOW, you look great. You have had your hair cut’!
I will never forget that moment, the sheer relief that I could still look good and most importantly, feel good. We never get used to losing our hair but Simply Wigs has opened up a whole new world of wonderful wigs for me and the security and self-confidence that has been restored is beyond measure.
