Wearing a wig after taking cancer medication

After years of taking cancer medication,

I knew my hair was thinning but I suppose I was in denial as to how bad it actually was. It was not until my husband took my photo for a passport application that I realised how thin my hair had become. Surprisingly, this came as quite a shock to me as when I looked in the mirror I saw my hair much thicker than it actually is – talking about the eye seeing what it wants to see!

This was the deciding moment for me,

I had to get a wig but where to begin. Thank goodness for Simply Wigs and all the information on their website about wig types, construction, videos etc. Initially, I was overwhelmed by the selection but I have always worn my hair in a bob so, not wanting to look too different, that at least narrowed the selection.

I made my choice and waited anxiously for my wig to arrive one week later. I opened the box with trepidation and found a lovely chocolate surprise. Grateful for the sustenance, I tore off the pink tissue paper and opened the box. There she was in all her glory all that luscious hair that I once had many years ago. Fortunately, I had watched lots of videos on how to put a wig on or I would have run for the hills when I first did so, as there was so much hair. I told my husband who was anxious to see the new me to stay out till I played with the wig and calmed it down.

All I had to do now was to check,

that the wig was even and trim the fringe and I think as you will see from my before and after photos I look at least 10 years younger! Needless to say, my husband was delighted to see me so happy and took lots of photos of me in the wig so that I could see the difference – even my whippet was impressed! I wore my wig for the first time today.

I took my dog to the Comyn for his morning walk and one of the dog walking ladies (keeping social distance) called over to tell me how fabulous my hair looked!

That really made my day and I smiled all the way home.

I am also on Aromatase inhibitors and my hair was always very fine but now its thinning so much as well,and I am loosing my confidence.have been scammed by rewigs,but my bank has reclaim my money as I paid by my Visa card,which then paid to Paypal.I will never have a paypal account as its easier to get my bank to deal with such matters.stay well and happy.

I knew it was one of the side effects but it was still a sadness when at first my hair only regrew very slowly and then thinned. I started with hair extensions then moved to a topper from Simply Wigs. havent looked back! 🙂

Hi Sarah, I too am on aromatase inhibitors and I’m sure they have made my hair thinner!

If and when you feel you need a full wig, do not hesitate as the modern cap constructions are very light and airy. I chose the Mono C after it being rated a 10 for comfort by the lovely team at Simply Wigs.
