My story begins with A misdiagnosis
I am a 77 year old woman, with thinning hair, but my wig story begins with a diagnosis of a skin cancer on my crown. This had been wrongly diagnosed as dermatitis ten years previously, so had had all of that time to become larger and deeper. I was told it would be ‘excised’, but would take a lot of healing time because it couldn’t be pulled together and stitched, plus I had to sign a disclaimer declaring I understood that the operation would leave me with a bald patch. (This to add to my existing problem of thin and weightless hair).
From Surgery To Wigs

I was not relishing the idea of my new look. How would I ever feel confident about my appearance again? So I set about preparing for the event. I ordered two large wigs from Simply Wigs in the hope that they might fit over the dressing. They certainly looked good when I put them on before the surgery. I was buzzing with optimism. I had the operation two days ago. It was difficult for the practitioner to secure the dressing, so I came away with a ‘cap effect’ of tight fitting bandages, holding the special seaweed dressing in place.
But the good news is that my Aida Large wig fits over it, and today I went out wearing Aida.
Someone who knows me quite well, but knew nothing of my issues, stopped and said, ‘I must say, your hair looks fabulous!’. Because I want other women to know of this wonderful boost to lost ‘hair confidence’, I told her immediately that it was a wig, and she was astounded. I am ecstatic.
Thank you so much for restoring my hair confidence, Simply Wigs.
Love, Cynthia x
