Hello everyone,
My story is a little different to most of the other “whispers of a wig wearer” but I thought it might be of interest to other women who feel as I do about their own hair.
My hair has never been great. It is very fine and only really looks good when freshly washed and styled. To add to this, I am not too good at styling my own hair, so the cost of having regular blowdrys was becoming quite expensive.
It ruled me for many years in the sense that going out anywhere depended on how my hair would look, as the other problem was that it didn’t like being washed too often, so my trips out were always ruled by my hair.
However, I plodded on with this problem and it wasn’t until I had to go into hospital a few years ago and the drugs I had to take caused a lot of my already too fine hair to fall out. I was distraught as you can imagine.
I don’t really remember what made me turn to wigs but thankfully I did, and I was lucky enough to come across Simply Wigs early on in my journey. There were a few other disasters from different places, but Simply Wigs were a favourite and always did the job for me.
So wearing a wig simply changed my life. Suddenly I didn’t have to worry about how my hair would look on a trip out. Thanks to the wig it looked good anytime, day or night. Obviously, I felt a little self conscious at first but as the compliments about “my hair” were coming thick and fast I settled down and even started to enjoy it.
I think it has been approximately eight years or so that I have been wearing wigs and I really enjoy the challenge of getting the style and colour right. OK, it’s not the easiest thing choosing the style and colour online but as time goes on you do become more expert at it. I even made a trip to the Simply Wigs shop a couple of years ago and met all the friendly staff who were lovely and helpful.
When I first stared my journey with the wigs, I matched them up to my own colour as close as I could and as the years went by I decided to go for a grey or silver, matching the aging of my own hair.
I currently have two favourite styles. One, which is the style I’m wearing in the photograph. Long Page Mono Lace Wig in Creamy Silver and the other is Tempo 100 Deluxe Wig in Snow Mix.
So a big thank you to Simply Wigs. You really have changed my life and my advice to anyone who really doesn’t like or struggles with their own hair…
GO FOR IT. WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE.
Sending love to you all, Carol xx
Dearest Carol,
My goodness! Our stories are so similar!
My hair was only good when I was in my late teens to early 20s.
After a major surgery when I was 23, my hair began thinning drastically.
Thank you for sharing. I truly appreciate it.

Your story is so similar to mine…I felt that I was fighting a losing battle trying to style my rapidly thinning hair, so turned to Simply Wigs nine years ago, and I’ve never looked back.
Thank you to Carol for her comments and views on wearing a wig. Like her, due to an immune infection and suppressant drug, my hair has become thinner and has left me with bald patches. I stopped going anywhere. It was when a neighbour talked and laughed behind my back about my hair ( like I wasn’t self conscious enough , people are so cruel ) I decided to look into wearing a wig. I am going to ignore horrible people from now on and hopefully get the confidence Carol has
achieved .
Carol, what a fantastic title photo! you look like a beautiful woman anyway, but your hair, Wow! It shows a return on te time and effort you have given to choose just the right style.
You are an inspiration to tentative wig wearers and you give a clear message that it is perfectly OK to commit to wig-wearing when you have genetically disappointing hair. XX
