I was told it was cancer, I would need a mastectomy

I would like to nominate my hero – Andrew. He is so kind and funny.

Andrew and I hadn’t been together for long, I think about five months.

I went for a regular mammogram and a week later had a phone call, a lump had been found in my right breast I was told not to worry but obviously I did. As my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer at 38, it was always in the back of my mind.

Andrew was brilliant, very supportive and caring. I went for several procedures but unfortunately, I was told it was cancer and I would need a mastectomy followed by chemo and radiotherapy. Got through the operation and Andrew was there for me, I was able to go home after a week I had bandages and drainage tubes so needed help to shower, Andrew was brilliant I must have looked a sorry sight but he just got on with it and was very careful and patient.

When I was well enough for chemo I lost my hair, again he supported me and came with me to try wigs on, he acted the clown and tried some on too, so that lightened the mood.

Thank you Andrew, I LOVE you.
