DEDICATED TO THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HELPED YOU THROUGH YOUR LIFE

simply wigs hero

I’m Emma, and with my husband, we are the owners of Simply Wigs. Recently we have been touched by sadness with the loss of Stuarts mum to cancer. Losing somebody you love gives you a new perspective on life. It sharpens your awareness of people around you and you begin to focus on the people who you love and who mean so much to you. Because of this we have decided to start something called Simply Wigs Heroes.

‘Simply Wigs Heroes is going to be
dedicated to people who have helped you through your life.
It is about saying thank you to people who you care about
and who have played an important part of your journey’.

If you have someone in your life that you would like to thank then tell us why and let us know. We will then regularly choose entries and your hero will be sent either a bouquet of flowers, champagne or vouchers of your choice. It may be your friend who has helped you with your alopecia hairloss, or maybe your neighbour who volunteered to take you to chemo sessions. Or it may just be your mum, dad, brother, sister or friend. Just for being there. It doesn’t have to be glam & sensational. It just has to be somebody who has made a difference to your life.

I’m going to start off with my Simply Wigs Heroes
My mum and dad

I would like to nominate my mum and dad. Why? Because they have loved, supported and adored me all my life. Although apparently, I did push my boundaries from the age of about 14 to about 18 (I am now the proud mum to two teenage daughters : 16 & 18, and I am now feeling my parents pain).

We started Simply Wigs to make a difference. Stuart and I have been touched by hairloss and the impact it has on a persons life. We were not happy with the service that wig companies were providing, so we decided to do it ourselves, but to do it right. Hairloss, in whatever form, can have such an impact on your life and if an individual does decide to purchase a wig then that person should be treated with kindness, respect and compassion. We started SW in our small, spare bedroom at home. Every step of the way my mum & dad have supported us. My mum used to sit behind me on the stairs to the attic, and file the paperwork. My dad used to make boxes on the landing. At one stage we even ‘kitted out‘ my mum and dad with walkie talkies, so that we could talk to them when they were helping to pack on the kitchen table and I was upstairs sorting the next days paperwork. I remember one time when my mum stepped in as she saw her daughter faltering. Simply Wigs had got so busy, and I was getting upset that I no longer had time to cook our young daughters, proper meals anymore. Our girls were having fish fingers/pizza/fish fingers/pizza/fish fingers pizza on a regular rota. The days had gone when I was able to cook lovely meals. In stepped my mum & dad. Every Monday to Friday, my mum & dad came with a freshly made evening meal for us. Looking back, I still can’t believe that they just stepped in, helped us out, which in turn, allowed us to continue growing Simply Wigs.

We are now eight years into the Simply Wigs journey. We have one shop with several fitting rooms, three warehouse units and a fabulous team of eleven SW staff. Every Friday, my faithful mum and dad arrive at 9am. Mums still helps with our filing & my dad helps to sort out the invoices from suppliers. My dad also still makes boxes, but he doesn’t have to do it on the landing anymore. He goes in the ‘grown up‘  area that we have specifically for packing.

My mum and dad are our Simply Wigs heroes.
I love them for being part of our SW journey.
I love them for always being there for us.
I love them for giving us complete, unconditional love every step of the way.

PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR HERO TODAY

  2. Hi Emma
So sorry to hear of your family’s loss.
I finally visited you back in January and nearly didn’t get there as my anxiety levels nearly made me turn round! I am so glad I didn’t and you made the whole experience very positive. I agree entirely with Michelle’s comments above and only wish I’d visited sooner.
    And your parents sound wonderful!
