Carpool karaoke on the way to Chemo

Carpool karaoke on the way to Chemo

So it was a normal Wednesday morning at Simply Wigs HQ. All of the team working hard, chatting to customers, deliveries being signed for, coffees being supped, when the very lovely Jodie popped into my office and asked if I heard of that fab woman from the next village on, who was doing carpool videos, on her way to radiotherapy at our local Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

We logged onto our local newspaper online (Huddersfield Examiner) and there she was.
Mandy from Golcar.

Mandy has decided to turn her journeys to her radiotherapy sessions, on their head. This inspirational lady has gathered her friends around her, like a warm blanket, and asked them to join in singing their favourite songs, as they head towards her treatment sessions.

There were mixed emotions when I watched these fabulous videos.

Carpool Karaoke Reactions:

Happiness
. . . as I was watching happy people singing along to Monster Mash, Bat out of Hell, All Night Long amongst some other brilliant catchy tunes. Who can’t resist singing along to the infamous Lionel Richie? I also found myself laughing out loud at their massive glasses & flashing headwear.

Pride
. . . as a local lady from our neck of the woods doing something positive to bring awareness to the stark and grim reality of the dreaded disease, cancer.

Hope
Watching these videos, it made me catch my breath. Why? Because I was witnessing a wonderful mixture of people who loved and cared for this lady, who were joining her on her private journey. You could tell that every one of Mandy’s friends were joining in, to support her. This lady is surrounded by people who care, and want to contribute in anyway they can, on her mission to raise awareness of cancer. I think that is something that Mandy should be very, very proud of.

  1. What a Girl! What great friends!
I hope that people get to hear of this more widely. Mandy has overcome the loneliness and dread of the visits and replaced them with love and laughter. I’m sure that this will make her treatment more effective soon.

  2. Lovely Mandy is doing a great job raising awareness and brightening up peoples days with these videos! Go Mandy!!!
