My wig journey began about 6 years ago. I noticed that I was losing hair rapidly on top on my head.
I also had other symptoms and realised it was all connected to the menopause. I had horrendous anxiety, hot flushes, and palpitations to name a few but it’s so distressing as a woman to start losing your hair.
When you lose your hair you lose all your confidence. It was such a depressing time.
One day I decided enough was enough and started looking online for wig shops. I found Simply Wigs and never looked back.
I remember being so embarrassed the first time I wore a wig and thought everyone was looking at me. But actually, women would stop and ask me where I got my hair cut, and when I told them it was a wig they couldn’t believe it.
This is me wearing the ‘Upstage‘ by Raquel Welch in Shaded Biscuit – I love it! And next to me is the model image that is shown on the Simply Wigs website.
It really was quite astonishing and my confidence grew and grew over time. Now I wear my wigs with confidence, I love them. I never ever have to have a bad hair day ever again.
Thanks for all for reading, and I would LOVE to hear your hair loss story.
Love from Sharon xx
I was the same, suffering an hereditary, genetic hair loss which is a general thinning all over, getting gradually worse as the years go by.
I was so self-conscious, but wearing my first wig also made me self-conscious, thinking everyone was looking at me, and saying, “that woman’s wearing a wig!” Wgether I braved going out with a wig, or without, I felt uncomfortable. However, after a neighbour seeing me for the 1st time said, ” oh, I like your hair like that!” I realised that nobody was scrutinising my head in great detail, and that the Simply Wigs wig looked so natural that my neighbour just thought I’d got a new hairdo. Since then, I’ve bought a couple of other wigs from SW, and recently took the plunge and bought a real hair one. For anyone worrying about being conspicuous in a wig, SW wigs are so well made, that no-one can tell, so wear one with confidence that you will always look your best, get lots of compliments and feel terrific!
You look wonderful. I have bald patched on the top of my head. I feel so self conscious. You have given me confidence to look at wigs. And hopefully choose one. I am unsure but I live in hope
Looks incredible. So stylish and natural looking. I’m in the process of purchasing my first wig and very nervous about it, but you have given me confidence to move ahead with one. Absolutely everything you said is how I feel about my hair loss. I congratulate you on your strength of character in sharing your story. All the best x
You look fabulous. Thank you for sharing your story. Love Julie x
Your wig looks stunning and so natural!
It’s now 12 years since I started wearing a wig. Most of my hair fell out within 2 weeks of my husband being diagnosed with cancer, so I had to deal with his diagnosis and becoming almost bald. It was so devastating! I quickly ordered my first wig and have never looked back. I regained my confidence and have never had a bad hair day since!!
Your wig looks lovely Sharon and very natural. Like you, I started losing my hair around the time of the start of the menopause, when I was 51. Within a year I was bald. Devastating at the time, but I began wearing a wig and have not looked back since. My work colleagues couldn’t believe I was wearing a wig – they all said how natural it looked. I have always got my wigs from Simply Wigs and always will. I’m 70 now and look forward to wearing many more lovely wigs and, like you, no bad hair days!
You look fab in that wig.
Losing one’s hair is so dreadful. I have been wearing wigs for ten years now and it changed my life. Instead of spending ages trying to arrange my hair to cover the balding spots, I now never have a bad hair day. Plus what I would have spent in the hair salon goes on my instant hair instead. I have several styles and colours.
Love Simply wigs.
Looks beautiful and so natural, love it. I get everything you say, but mine was from Crohns.
However you loose your hair it’s still upsetting, but with beautiful wigs like that one, it’s definitely lovely. Hope it makes you feel as good as you look ?
Wow! You look fabulous. I also got my confidence back after finding beautiful wigs and wish you well on your hair loss journey x
I too started losing my hair from the top of my head after the menopause
I was diagnosed with frontal fibrosing alopecia
I now have little hair left so I shave my head and wear wonderful wigs from Simply Wigs
