“I have been wearing wigs for two years now after chemotherapy
and subsequent medication for breast cancer prevented my hair from growing back properly. I was devastated my hair didn’t grow and turned to wigs to give me back my confidence”
Wig Styling
After buying a couple of cropped wigs that did look very nice, I wanted something that would make me feel very feminine. I ordered the Alaska and was completely bowled over by it. Firstly it looked so real, it’s silky to the touch and the colour I chose, Honeydew, is a beautiful rooted colour that looks incredibly pretty.
The longer layers on the wig drift about my face in the breeze like real hair, which I love. In many ways the Alaska is better than my own hair as it stays in style and doesn’t go limp and flat in the wind and damp. I don’t have to use tape or caps as the wig is very comfortable and stays in place even in a strong breeze. I trimmed the fringe slightly, but apart from that I just wore it straight from the box. As I look after my two toddler grandchildren for two days a week, it’s lovely to be able to put the Alaska on quickly when I take them out. They think I wear furry hats and love to try my wigs on. The biggest compliment I had is when I was chatting to a lady in a shop about chemotherapy. She remarked how nicely my hair had grown back, I was wearing the Alaska II!
“The wig is very light and airy due to its wefted construction, great for me as I get a hot head occasionally caused by the medication I take.
It has a monofilament top that makes it look like the hair is coming from my own head, which gives me extra confidence“
I am currently on a clinical trial for a drug which will hopefully help prevent breast cancer returning. It also has an impact on hair growth but once I have finished all the medication my hair should grow back. However, I am so impressed with this beautiful wig that even with a full head of hair I would want to wear it again and again. It has given me the confidence to go out knowing that I can look good and above all else, normal.
love

Thanks everybody for your lovely comments, I always feel rather alone with my hair loss so it’s great to hear from people with similar problems. Xxxxxx
Wow you look lovely!
No one would ever know it wasn’t you own hair….and that’s what makes a wig that really suits us special!
Sue, you look amazingly youthful with this wig. No wonder you have confidence. It looks very natural, but still very stylish. no more ‘bad hair days’, eh?
What a great article Sue, you look amazing, thanks for sharing, hope you keep well X
You look great Sue! I’m going to check out that wig, it looks so natural and really suits you. I think wigs with fringes and layers, like the one you’re wearing, seem to add movement making it seem like your own hair. Like you, my two grandchildren like to try my wigs – if they get the chance, it always makes us laugh!
Thanks for your article!

I really enjoyed reading your article and think that Alaska wig looks great on you.
For me too, when most around me had great hair regrowth after chemo, I felt devastated that mine was hardly growing and there were big areas with nothing!!
After steroid treatment and long term antibiotics I am two years down the line and I too need my wigs to build my confidence .I have recently had a ‘number2’ head shave to keep the ‘wisps’ tidy and this also helps the fit and comfort.
I’ve always chosen cropped styles but seeing you I may need to try that Alaska.
You look fabulous Sue! Our SW customers love this wig. There is also a wefted version called Alaska II, which is the same style, but with a standard cap construction, instead of the Mono. Thanks for your fabulous article. Emma (SW) x
