‘My daughter is my rock’
She is my daughter and has been a rock for me going through my gender change operation she looked after me and her mum throughout my recovery, unfortunately, my wife has Huntingdons so she has had to look after both of us.
I am a transgender woman, I lost my hair in my early thirties so it’s not the usual women’s hair loss. I started my transition to a woman when I turned sixty, I had a sex change operation in August 2021 so wearing a wig became part of my everyday life. I am still married to my wife of 42 years who suffers from Huntingdons Disease, so I am her carer for her.
‘This is where Sophie came into her own helping me to look after her mum during my transition’
I needed her help as I had to travel down to London on three separate occasions. Then for my operation, I was away in London for seven nights. Sophie moved into my house to take care of Mum while I was away. That was just the start, when I got back home from the operation I couldn’t lift or drive for 5 weeks. Sophie tended to both of us besides working full-time and taking some annual leave. I couldn’t have managed without her support, and still rely on her now. She has never complained and is always there to help out. I have purchased 5 wigs from you, and you have provided a valuable service for women and men with hair loss issues, as well as the transgender community.

Thank you so much, Helen, for sharing your story. A bottle of champagne is on its way to Sophie! Thank you, for being you.
What a beautiful daughter to support you and her Mum. Enjoy the Champagne Sophie.
Congratulations, much deserved!
Congratulations Sophie! Very well deserved. You are a special person. Unfortunately, not everyone would have acted the way you have.
Huntingdon’s is a particularly horrible disease. I’m sorry you are all having to deal with that, but as a strong family, I’m sure you’ll all be able to deal with whatever comes your way.
I do hope you are happier in your own skin now Helen. You look great.
Well done Sophie. You’re a brick helping your parents like this
You deserve the champagne.
