MY HERO NOMINATION: Barbara

“At the age of 24, I started losing my eyebrows, eyelashes and then my hair. My Mum has been my rock for the past 21 years. She has been with me at GP appointments, when they told me that there was nothing they could do for me and when I tried my first wig on and walked out wearing it. My Mum has always done her very best to keep my spirits up. Over the many years it has taken me to come to terms with my hair loss, my spirits were extremely low. She even tells me I look lovely without my hair, which I still don’t see even after all these years. My Mum always makes me smile, she seems to know just when to do so. My Mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last July and I couldn’t have managed the last 21 years without her support. Now it’s my turn to repay that support not just because she’s my Mum, but because I love her so very much. Thank you. ”
I would like to nominate my beautiful mum, Barbara. She is always there for me.
