Hello!
I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last sat down to write a blog for the site, time has really flown. It’s lovely to be able to talk to this great community again, I’ve missed it in recent months.
So where have I been and what have I been doing? I’d love to say I’ve been doing something exotic like trekking through the Andes (not really, that sounds too much like hard work), but the truth is rather more prosaic. Mostly I’ve just been really busy with my new job. I took on a new role last May, and it’s great.
I joined a new organisation, and I’ve been busy building things up since then. Not least the simple things like making sure employee #002 had a laptop ready for her on her first day! My boss joined us in October (I didn’t get to choose my own boss, I hasten to add. . . ) and he’s brilliant; he’s very experienced and expects high standards so he keeps me on my toes. It’s not going to quieten down anytime soon but I think I’ve adjusted to the pace now, so hopefully, there will be time to blog too from now on!
Things have been busy at home too – my husband has been DIYing fit to bust, partly because he wanted to get lots of things done before he had surgery on his wrist last month which he’s now recovering from. Oh, and the dog has had surgery too! Meantime I’ve been keeping up my new favourite thing – kickboxing classes. I’m still a beginner but I do at least now have a belt to my name (orange) and I’m absolutely loving learning the physical and mental skills needed for a martial art. I had no idea there was so much to learn; it’s certainly keeping my interest and has also been great for making new friends.
It’s also produced some additional proof, if it were needed, of how helpful wig tape is. I can pull a headguard on and off, duck under an incoming punch and have my ponytail knocked to the side without worrying about my wig being dislodged – some tape holding things in place does the job beautifully. We even had a self defence class the other week as a 1-off (one of the girls is getting married so she brought her hen do to a special class) where I was used to demonstrate a hip throw, and my wig was secure enough that I didn’t worry about it flying off as I was flying over the instructor’s shoulders. Wig tape really is good stuff.
I’ve missed writing these little pieces, and I would recommend you give it a go yourself!
It’d be lovely to hear more voices from our growing community, so why not draft a blog and send it over to Emma and Stuart?
Great article! Which wig tape do you use? I’ve been trying to find a strong wig tape that will last through a karate class!
