Until about two years ago I would be borderline hysterical about my hair loss and couldn’t talk about it at all.
My advice now, be bold, be strong and wear your hair with pride.
My hair loss journey began when I started my first job and met a young woman with severely thin hair that allowed her scalp to clearly show through. I suddenly had an overwhelming sixth-sense feeling that the same was going to happen to me!
Well, low and behold, it did happen to me.
I was devastated when I noticed an ever-expanding thinning triangle at the front of my hair. I was only 21.
The thinning continued and at age forty, after much stressing and many tears – with the love, support and encouragement of my late beloved mother I ventured into the world of hair replacement.
It worked really well for ten years but menopausal changes meant suddenly it wasn’t working anymore.
So, at the age of fifty, it was time to consider the alternative – wigs. This was quite a horrifying thought to me but, once again I received unending love, support and encouragement from my wonderful partner. His unconditional love gave me the strength and confidence to “take the plunge”.
After very bad experiences at the two local wig salons, I turned to the internet. I stumbled across Simply Wigs and as many others have said, I was delightfully astonished at how helpful & empathetic the whole team is.
Love to you all,
Deborah xx 🙂
Thank you for sharing this you look great in that wig btw. I too suffered for over 15 years with severe hair loss due to Leukaemia treatment and early menopause and gradually got to the point where I succumbed to wearing a wig and won’t ever not wear one now.
Well done Deborah. You look great.
We put ourselves through so much with hair loss .I felt it was not just as acceptable as men’s loss. Thinking hair on a woman is so aging. In my case a
‘Friend’ giving me a welcome hug with her hand on the nap of my neck to check if I was wearing a wig didn’t help!. 6 years later having tried all kinds of systems, I am loud and proud
Who cares if I have different styles every day. I can afford it with Simply Wigs. I look good too!
Thanks for sharing Deborah. I agree – wear your wigs with confidence and a smile on your face and we will gradually normalise choosing to wear them whether or not we have hairloss.
Looking good, Deborah.
Thank you for sharing your story xx
