My journey started 14 years ago with thinning hair when I was only 40. I then noticed that one of my eyebrows had disappeared, imagine my surprise! Then I started noticing lots of hair in my brush, wrapped around the bristles of my vacuum cleaner, clogging up the shower trap, I was horrified!
Turns out I had developed an autoimmune condition called Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia! No-one knows for sure what causes this condition but I am currently receiving treatment for it that may stop the spread of hair loss from going any further.
What is frontal fibrosing alopecia?
Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) is a type of hair loss that affects the front and sides of the scalp. It’s characterized by a gradual recession of the hairline, and can also affect the eyebrows and eyelashes. The exact cause of FFA is unknown, but it may be related to genetics, hormones, or an autoimmune reaction. Find out more>
This is me wearing the Pax wig in Melted Marshmallow
I have lost a lot of hair already and it bothered me that I couldn’t style my hair anymore. So I decided to try wearing wigs. I discovered the amazing Simply Wigs website, and have never looked back. Gone are the bad hair days! I love my wigs and the one at the top of the page is the Zeal wig from Noriko.
I can change my hairstyle and colour to suit my mood. I can be curly one day and straight the next. The possibilities are endless. My hairstyles are now a source of fun and excitement. Thankfully, as I’ve made some questionable choices over the years, Simply Wigs offers great advice and help when choosing a wig and they have a very kind customer service team.
Thanks to you all, love Lynda x

I have alopecia mainly at the back top area,It’s a horrible thing to experience as your hair is part of who you are.I found Simply Wigs really helpful
I’m still at the self conscious stage,I hope it goes as I hate feeling as though I’m vain.I just want to look like a female. You never think you will loose your hair. The ladies at SW are really underrated for the help they have given.I think it also affects my husband,he tries to understand, bless him.Love and light to everyone
Hi Lynda I too have FFA which was triggered by Vitamin B12 deficiency, my GP referred me to the local hospital who managed to slow down the hairloss so I still have quite a bit of biological hair but still need to wear a wig. Simply Wigs have really been a godsend and like you I’ve tried various styles and can honestly say that my wigs look better than my real hair ever did.
I love the wig on you. Thank you for sharing your story.
Your wig looks great Lynda! I also had treatment for FFA but it did not help so now that I only have a small patch of hair on top of my head towards the back I have to wear a wig. Cause unknown but I suspect stress was the major factor. After years of an awful receding hairline I now feel so much better in my wig! Looking back at old pre-wig photos makes me cringe.
I too have this condition which can be very distressing. I have been wearing wigs since 2019 and discovered Simply Wigs 2 years later and have never looked back.
Hello Lynda. I’ve got FFA as well. It’s such a shock to the system! I’ve recently looked at the Simply Wigs website and I’m considering what to do next.
