I developed Frontal Alopecia

I developed Frontal Alopecia

With the stress of having abdominal surgery, I lost most of my body hair. But the worst of all I developed Frontal Alopecia which upset me greatly. Everyone tried to say it wasn’t too noticeable, but to me it was.

For the past 4 years I have worn an enhancer supplied by Simply Wigs. Family and friends have complimented me on how good of a match it is was to my own hair.

The person I spoke to on the phone at Simply Wigs gave me excellent advice on the ones to try that would suit my style. It took a few attempts to find the right one to match my hair colour, but there was no problem sending them back if they weren’t right for me.

Now unfortunately my hair is getting much thinner, I have decided to try a full wig, but this is new territory for me altogether.

There are so many to choose from. I had excellent advice again from the staff on what to try. I was very conscious as I didn’t want people to notice, and wanted it to look very natural.

I have visited the Simply Wigs shop now on 3 occasions. Being able to pick out 4 wigs from the website to try, and the advice from Sue, who works in the shop, has been great.

I usually come away happy with a new wig and now feel more confident wearing my wigs – I have even tried new colours too.

I visited the shop again and came away with a lovely wig, completely different to my hairstyle, but I love it and have had lots of compliments.

Everyone I have spoken to has been very nice and helpful. A big thank you to everyone at Simply Wigs.

Love to you all, Carol xx

  1. A very natural and attractive style which suits you very well. Thank you for your share

  2. Frontal fibrosing alopecia is a real pain but more common than we realise I think. I went from having really thick hair in my late 30s to finally wearing wigs in my mid 60s! A long slow process but kicked off by stress initially.as others have said. The only times I dislike wig wearing are in very hot or very windy conditions, other times I don’t really give it a thought. Onwards and upwards ladies!

  3. It looks good, Carol. Also, wearing wigs helps us get with getting out of the house on time. Less likelihood of being late for appointments and meetings with friends.

  4. Hi Carol, I understand how you feel re frontal alopecia. I was diagnosed with partial including frontal alopecia caused by discoid lupus 10 or more years ago. This autoimmune disorder also took away my eyebrows and all body hair, but I couldn’t wear an enhancer wasn’t suitable for me, so I went straight to wearing wigs. I find Simply Wigs are wonderful so I’m a loyal customer of theirs, not only for wigs but also for false eyebrows. Thank you for sharing your experience.
    Best Wishes,
    Angela x

  5. Thank you for sharing your story Carol.
Lovely picture and so natural looking.
My hair just never grew back after cancer treatments so I embraced the idea of having the option of trying wigs.
It was a bit hit and miss for me with the styles at first as I live too far away from the Simply Wigs shop.
However, they were very patient with me when I needed to return quite a few at first until I found the look I wanted.
I am now totally addicted to my ‘alternative hair’, which, in my opinion, is more flattering on me than my own hair ever was, as even before the cancer treatment it was starting to thin.
    Love Wendy x
