My life changed in November 2022 after I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
After coming to terms with the initial shock of being told I had cancer, my main priority was how do I beat this? I was only 62 years old and have always been very fit and healthy.
My Journey
The Tumour, The Operations, The Treatment
I was fortunate to be able to have the Whipple Operation, as the tumour was at the head of the pancreas and could be cut away.
In January of 2023, I had a huge 10 hour operation to remove the tumour and other organs close by. It was a long tough recovery, but I was grateful to be here and did all I could to help my recovery.
I had a 6 week recovery and then my oncologist recommended I had 6 months adjuvant chemotherapy.
This was to make sure any cancer cells the surgeon could not see were blasted!
This was equally as tough as the operation. The chemo was very strong and I spent much time too exhausted too move out of my chair.
My Recovery
When I started to feel better I was exercising, walking my beloved dog Hector and eating well to keep my weight maintained. I had amazing support from my friends, family and a fantastic husband. During this chemotherapy my hair thinned and I could not use hair colour.

I found a fantastic little cheat; a hair topper. This allowed me to clip the piece onto my existing hair, making it look fuller. It was a real confidence booster! One thing I have found during my journey is that if you look nice, mentally it will give you a lift.
I completed my 6 months of chemotherapy and there was no stopping me. I enjoyed lots of lovely holidays with my lovely friends and family. We even took our 3 little granddaughters to Disneyland!
After Some Time
Unfortunately after nearly 2 years of cancer free it returned and had spread to other parts of my body. I was then put on a different chemotherapy which causes total hair loss and was told it will be ongoing. The treatment is working and I am so grateful for every minute I have on this beautiful planet!
It was a shock losing all my hair. It came out over a period of 3 weeks and I was left with tufts of thin wispy hair all over my head. It looked awful and I wanted it gone.
My husband shaved it all off for me. He was very upset, but I felt liberated!
It is only hair I can now have the hair style I always wanted!
The Simply Wigs Experience
That was when I contacted Simply Wigs. They were amazing. They answered all my wig questions and we’re lovely to speak too. I ordered several, they came wrapped in purple tissue paper with a small chocolate in a box. I then found my dream hair style.
I have always wanted thick hair and I do now. It’s my new best friend and gives me so much confidence when I wear it.

Although I am having chemotherapy every 2 weeks, people always say how well I look. I thank Simply Wigs for this.
Great hair, some lipstick and a smile is my daily mantra. My life will never be the same again. But I am making the most of every minute and feeling confident in myself to do that.
Thank you Simply Wigs.
