Choosing the right wig cap construction is crucial for achieving the perfect blend of comfort, realism, and durability. Here are the main four types:

• Wefted Caps: These are the foundation of most wigs and are often the most affordable option. Wefts of hair are sewn onto strips of material, creating a basic but functional cap and are a great budget-friendly choice.
  
• Lace Fronts: Feature a thin, sheer lace material at the front hairline, which gives the illusion of a natural hairline. This construction allows for versatile styling and a seamless blend creating a natural hairline, especially when hair is styled away from the face.
  
• Monofilament Caps: These have a sheer mesh material, where each hair is individually hand-tied. This creates the illusion of natural hair growth and allows for multidirectional styling. Monofilament caps provide excellent breathability and scalp comfort, along with a realistic appearance at the top of the head.
  
• Completely Hand-Tied Caps: These wigs are crafted entirely by hand, with each hair individually knotted to the cap. Completely hand-tied caps offer unparalleled comfort, as the cap conforms closely to the shape of the scalp. They create the most natural movement and styling versatility.

A monofilament is a type of wig cap construction upon which a fine layer of transparent micro-mesh is inserted at the parting, crown or top area. Each strand of hair is then individually hand-tied to this layer of mesh to mimic natural hair growth and to give a natural appearance. They are ideal for individuals seeking a natural-looking and comfortable wig solution, whether for fashion purposes, hair loss, or medical reasons.

The key features that a monofilament wig can have, include:

• Monofilament Top: The top of the wig is made from a fine, breathable mesh material known as 'monofilament'. Individual hairs are hand-tied to the monofilament, allowing for a natural look and versatile styling.
  
• Monofilament Part: Only a section of the wig, typically along the parting line, is made from monofilament. This offers a more affordable option while still providing a natural look at the part.
  
• Monofilament Crown: The monofilament material is concentrated at the crown of the wig, giving a natural appearance at the top while the rest of the cap may be constructed from other materials.

You will need a cloth tape measure. If you have any hair, push back the hair so there's no added length or volume. Start at the centre of your forehead where your natural hairline is, and you are going to measure the circumference. Drop behind the ears, to the nape, and then back up around the opposite side of your head meeting back at your starting point.

And don't worry if your head circumference measures in between the average sizes as there are adjustable straps at the back of each wig to ensure a perfect fit.

It may sound daunting, but in fact it is very easy and you will soon get used to it.

1. Place the front section of the wig at your front hairline and pull it back over your head.
2. Shuffle into position at your nape until comfortable.
3. Lift your head up straight and then position the ear tabs until they are just infront of your ears and laying flat.
4. Next, go the the fringe area and adjust so that the wig is not too far back and not too far forward.
5. Finally, once the wig is in position, gently pat it down to ensure it lays smoothly against your scalp.
   

Please feel confident that your wig will remain on your head, if you have measured your head correctly and you are wearing the correct size wig. Wigs are available in Petite, Average & Large. There are also adjustable velcro fasteners at the nape of the neck, which you can adjust the size and security of your wig by up to 3cm.
