Synthetic wigs are pre-styled, meaning their shape will remain without additional styling. However, it's important to note that using traditional heat-styling tools or straighteners on synthetic wigs can damage the fibres.

If you want to add a bit more definition or hold to your synthetic wig, you can use wig-specific styling products like wig wax or wig mousse. These products are formulated to be gentle on synthetic fibres and can help enhance the style of your wig without causing damage. Wig wax can be used to add texture or hold to specific areas of the wig, while wig mousse can add volume and definition to the overall style.

Determining which wig will suit you best depends on several factors, including your face shape, skin tone, personal style, and lifestyle. Decide what shape your face is. Oval, Round, Heart, Square, Diamond or Oblong. (You can easily do this by tracing the outline of your face in a mirror with lipstick or soap and observing the shape).

Cleaning a synthetic wig is a relatively straightforward process, but it's essential to do it gently to avoid damaging the fibres. Only wash your synthetic wig with aftercare products specifically for synthetic wigs. Detangle the wig gently. Fill a sink of lukewarm water and put some shampoo in the water. Gently swish the wig and leave immersed for between 5-10 mins. Rinse and then repeat with the conditioner. Pat the wig and then leave to dry naturally. Always read the instructions on the shampoo & conditioner bottles, as instructions may vary from different suppliers.

By following these steps and using gentle care, you can keep your synthetic wig clean and look its best for many 'wears' to come. It's generally recommended to wash your synthetic wig every 7 to 10 'wears', or as needed based on how often you wear it.

Permatease is an abbreviation for permanent teasing. It is located at the top area of the wig and has two functions. 1. To create volume and lift. 2. To hide the wefts of the cap base.

Permatease is a versatile hairstyling technique that plays a crucial role in the construction of wigs and hairpieces, helping to enhance volume, coverage, and overall appearance. By teasing the hair at the roots, permatease creates a base of support for the rest of the hair to sit on, resulting in a fuller, more voluminous appearance.

It is made up of short, matted fibres and can sometimes give a singed effect if the permatease is not lifted enough.

Lace fronts can be either pre-cut or uncut. Most of our lace styles at Simply Wigs are pre-cut lace so there is no need to get your scissors out. For the uncut lace wig styles, use sharp scissors and trim any excess lace from the front of the wig. Aim to cut close to the knots but not so close that you unpick the fibre. 

Uncut lace front - trimming the lace front on a wig is an important step to ensure a natural-looking hairline. You will need sharp scissors, a wig stand or mannequin and hair clips.

1. Place the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to keep it steady during the trimming process. If you don't have a stand, you can hold the wig securely in your hand.
   
2. Use hair clips to pin back any excess hair that may get in the way while trimming.
   
3. Carefully use sharp scissors to cut close to the knotted hairline. Take your time and make small, precise cuts to avoid cutting too much lace. It's better to cut a little at a time and check the progress frequently.
