If you're engaging in activities like swimming or exercising, it's wise to consider wearing an old wig or hairpiece to protect your everyday wig from sweat, chlorine, or other potential damage. This helps preserve the quality and longevity of your favourite wig.

However, if wearing your 'everyday wig' is necessary during these activities, taking extra care is essential. Be sure to wash your wig carefully after each exercise session to remove any sweat, dirt, or chemicals like chlorine that may have accumulated. A gentle shampoo and proper washing techniques will help keep your wig clean and in good condition.

Choosing the right wig cap construction is crucial for achieving the perfect blend of comfort, realism, and durability. Here are the main four types:

• Wefted Caps: These are the foundation of most wigs and are often the most affordable option. Wefts of hair are sewn onto strips of material, creating a basic but functional cap and are a great budget-friendly choice.
  
• Lace Fronts: Feature a thin, sheer lace material at the front hairline, which gives the illusion of a natural hairline. This construction allows for versatile styling and a seamless blend creating a natural hairline, especially when hair is styled away from the face.
  
• Monofilament Caps: These have a sheer mesh material, where each hair is individually hand-tied. This creates the illusion of natural hair growth and allows for multidirectional styling. Monofilament caps provide excellent breathability and scalp comfort, along with a realistic appearance at the top of the head.
  
• Completely Hand-Tied Caps: These wigs are crafted entirely by hand, with each hair individually knotted to the cap. Completely hand-tied caps offer unparalleled comfort, as the cap conforms closely to the shape of the scalp. They create the most natural movement and styling versatility.

It may sound daunting, but in fact it is very easy and you will soon get used to it.

1. Place the front section of the wig at your front hairline and pull it back over your head.
2. Shuffle into position at your nape until comfortable.
3. Lift your head up straight and then position the ear tabs until they are just infront of your ears and laying flat.
4. Next, go the the fringe area and adjust so that the wig is not too far back and not too far forward.
5. Finally, once the wig is in position, gently pat it down to ensure it lays smoothly against your scalp.
   

Using the right wig tape is essential for a secure and comfortable fit. Here is a quick guide:

• Select either a standard tape suitable for a polyurethane base or lace front wig tape, depending on your wig's construction.
  
• Before applying the tape, ensure that the area you are applying the tape to is free from any makeup or oil.
  
• Cut the tape to the required size and then position it where you want it to go on the wig.
  
• Peel off the backing from the double-sided tape to expose the adhesive side.
  
• Place the wig on your head, aligning it with your natural hairline or desired position. Adjust the ear tabs to ensure a snug fit.
  
• When you are happy with the position, press down firmly where the wig tape is located for 10 seconds. This will secure your wig position throughout your day.

By following these steps and using the correct wig tape for your needs, you can enjoy a secure and comfortable fit throughout your day, with your wig staying in place exactly where you want it.

You will need a cloth tape measure. If you have any hair, push back the hair so there's no added length or volume. Start at the centre of your forehead where your natural hairline is, and you are going to measure the circumference. Drop behind the ears, to the nape, and then back up around the opposite side of your head meeting back at your starting point.

And don't worry if your head circumference measures in between the average sizes as there are adjustable straps at the back of each wig to ensure a perfect fit.
